Professional Visitation Supervisor Development Pathway


Presented by the Georgia Supervised Visitation Training Institute, with field practicum and service opportunities administered through The Children’s Advocate, LLC.


This structured pathway helps eligible Certificate Program graduates and other professionally prepared applicants transition from professional education into supervised field experience, competency development, and potential service opportunities.

OTHER PROFESSIONALLY PREPARED APPLICANTS

OTHER PROFESSIONALLY PREPARED APPLICANTS

Graduates of the 12-Hour Professional Visitation Supervisor Certificate Program may apply for field-practicum consideration. Institute graduates receive priority consideration, but acceptance and advancement are not automatic.

Applicants who completed supervised-visitation-specific professional education through another provider must submit documentation for an education-equivalency review and complete TCA’s required practice orientation.

EXPERIENCED PROVIDERS

EXPERIENCED PROVIDERS

Professionally prepared applicants with at least two years of direct supervised visitation experience may apply for experienced-provider consideration. Credential verification and an observed competency demonstration are still required before receiving TCA assignments.

HOW THE PATHWAY WORKS

Complete the 12-Hour Professional Visitation Supervisor Certificate Program or receive approval for equivalent supervised-visitation-specific professional education.

STAGE 2: FIELD OBSERVATION

Observe a complete supervised visit conducted by an experienced supervisor, including arrival, parent-child contact, professional interventions, documentation, and departure procedures.

STAGE 3: GUIDED CO-SUPERVISION

STAGE 3: GUIDED CO-SUPERVISION

Participate alongside a designated lead supervisor while practicing neutral communication, observation, documentation, boundaries, and appropriate intervention.

FROM GUIDED PRACTICE TO SERVICE READINESS

STAGE 4: OBSERVED LEAD SUPERVISION

STAGE 5: PROVISIONAL TCA SUPERVISOR

STAGE 5: PROVISIONAL TCA SUPERVISOR

Conduct a complete visit while an experienced supervisor observes, evaluates, supports, and intervenes when necessary.

Receive selected assignments within an approved scope while participating in pre-visit consultation, post-visit review, and documentation oversight.

Qualified candidates may be authorized to accept assignments through The Children’s Advocate based on demonstrated competencies, case fit, availability, continued eligibility, and a separate service-provider or employment agreement.

• Be at least 18 years old and provide           valid identification


• Complete supervised-visitation-specific professional education or enroll in the Certificate Program


• Complete required background screening


• Provide professional references


• Agree to TCA’s confidentiality, professional-conduct, and conflict-of-interest requirements

• Complete TCA’s practice orientation


• Complete the required practicum or competency review


• Receive authorization for the assigned case


• Sign the applicable participant, employment, or service-provider agreement


• Provide required business, insurance, and transportation documentation when applicable


Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee pathway admission, employment, a contractor relationship, or client assignments.
